Libros para Niños

Libros para Niños is a non-profit promoting the joy of reading in Nicaragua by offering lending libraries of high quality children's books in Spanish around the country. Libros para Niños began in 1993 with mobile classroom libraries in twenty schools and now works in over 40 communities and in 9 departments of Nicaragua with 4875 readers and 18,879 books in inventory. We also publish and sell high quality children's literature written and illustrated by Nicaraguans and Central Americans. Our organization's headquarters is based in Managua, Nicaragua. 

Nicaragua is one of the poorest countries in the hemisphere and the vast majority of children in Nicaragua will never have the opportunity to discover the magic of a well written and beautifully illustrated children’s story. We promote reading among impoverished children in order to awaken their imagination and foster a sense of freedom.
