    The Mission of The Ernest Hemingway Foundation of Oak Park is to foster understanding of the life and work of Ernest Hemingway, with emphasis on hisOak Parkorigins and his impact on world literature. The Foundation’s mission reflects its belief in the importance of the written word and the value of thoughtful reading and writing.

    We operate The Hemingway Birthplace Home as a house museum, giving guided tours 7 days a week, as well as the Hemingway Museum, an award-winning volunteer museum dedicated to Hemingway's life and work. Our facilities, as well as our educational and cultural programming, draw more than 10,000 visitors per year to Oak Park, just steps from Chicago's L trains.
