Vía Educación, based in Monterrey, Mexico, is network of specialists in Education and Social Development seeking to improve people’s quality of life by promoting sustainable social development through education. The organization believes that every person is capable of improving their opportunities and those of their communities. With the mission to generate opportunities for sustainable social development through the design, implementation and evaluation of formal and non-formal education strategies, Vía Educación recognizes the value of education as a means to build capacity in people and thus get opportunities for better life, and believes that sustainable social development is possible and that each person has the power to improve the quality of their environment.
Vía Educación developed a methodology for social transformation based on building problem solving capacities on communities of youth and adults. The methodology aims to increase individual and collective self-efficacy among community members; develop civic competencies through solving relevant community needs; and strengthen social capital.
The organization develops networks of people capable of solving real community issues through collective and participative processes of collaboration; as a means to strengthen community bonds. Moreover, Via Educación is an active member of various networks and organizations in the State such as the Civic Development Commission and the Education for Peace Commission of the Consejo Cívico de las Instituciones de Nuevo León (CCINLAC), the National Council for Educational Partnerships, and the Education Commission of COPARMEX. It is the methodology specialist and lead coordinator of the Red Sumarse project in Nuevo Leon, a multi year, multi site, citizen and social development project supported by more than 25 companies and industries in the region. Internationally, Via Educación has participated as a citizenship education specialist at the Harvard Advanced Leadership Initiative.
