Microloan Foundation Namibia

About Us

The MicroLoan Foundation has developed an effective model for helping families in sub-Saharan Africa work their way out of poverty. We provide women with business education and small loans, enabling them to build profitable businesses that can provide enough income to support their families’ needs. The benefit of giving our clients a hand-up not a hand-out is that they experience the dignity of self-sufficiency and being able to care for their own children. The charity was established in Malawi in 2002 and has grown from one Loan Officer with a bicycle to 20 branches spread across the country with 45 Loan Officers serving 15,000 clients. Our UK office is based in London and was selected as one of the Daily Telegraph’s Christmas Charities in 2006 and it has since been featured by the Financial Times and BBC for its innovative approach to development in Africa.

We recently started loans in Namibia and plan to increase our operations within the coming year
