    Mama Tara Miskito Orphanage, Inc. is a 501©(3) interdenominational Christian agency providing for the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of at-risk Miskito children in Puerto Lempira, Honduras, through activities that focus on: • Providing meals, shelter, and loving acceptance in a familial home environment, • Establishing and strengthening friendships with the children, their families (when possible), and other Miskito people to share the Gospel message to help them grow spiritually, • Encouraging education program opportunities for the children in our care to help them prepare for a self-sufficient future, • Hosting mission teams to improve and help our ministry and local community, and • Planning and implementing growth for the Mama Tara Orphanage ministry over the next 5-10 years, including a new schoolroom, chapel, clinic, and garden to promote self-sufficiency.

    About Us

    Mama Tara Miskito Orphanage is a Christian family-oriented ministry which seeks to encourage the well-being of the at-risk Miskito children of the Puerto Lempira area of Honduras who have been entrusted into our care by providing the basic physical necessities of shelter, food, and educational opportunities, the basic emotional necessities of love, acceptance, and belonging, and the basic spiritual necessities of the love and grace of a close personal relationship with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

    Our United States Board of Directors provides support to the Honduran ministry by performing fund raising activities in Georgia, North Carolina, Louisiana, Tennessee, and other locations. These fund raising activities are aligned with the ministry's Board of Director's residences and home church communities. All funds that are received goes to supporting the Honduras orphanage and ministry.
