  • About Us

    Mission, social justice vision, accomplishments:

Our mission/Social Justice Vision/ accomplishments: To promote environmental justice and awareness among underserved residents of our community. To that end we have created and maintained community gardens, environmental education/action programs with an emphasis on youth and families, but which involve all community residents. Eight years ago we initiated an annual “HARLEM GREEN Harlem Gardens tour” to increase awareness around neighborhood greening initiatives and possibilities; we sponsor street tree clinics and a street tree/tree-pit care initiative. We are involved in food justice, have a 60+ member CSA with a sliding scale membership (+ EBT). Food preservation, composting, recycling, reusing, water harvesting and solar energy are all part of the agenda we advocate and implement. For over 25 years, we have been leaders in the greening of our community.
