  • Mission

The NPFVOA Vessel Safey Program (NPFVOA) is a 501c3 membership based organization dedicated to providing safety training, education and awareness to the maritime industry in order to mitigate injury, prevent lives lost at sea and to protect the marine environment.

    About Us

Since 1985, NPFVOA has provided maritime safety training to commercial fishing, small passenger, workboat, and research vessel crews. Based at Seattle's Fishermen's Terminal, we offer STCW courses including Basic Training (Medical Emergencies at Sea, Basic Firefighting, Personal Survival Techniques, and Personal Safety and Social Responsibilities), Basic Training Refresher, Basic Training Revalidation, and Medical Care Provider; other Coast Guard-approved courses like Onboard Drill Instructor and Fishing Vessel Stability; and industry-specific courses such as Shipyard Competent Person (SCP), HAZWOPER and Specimen Collection certifications.

Serving crews throughout Seattle, Tacoma, Edmonds, Everett, Bellingham, and Alaska for over 40 years, we offer USCG-approved/accepted classes at our facility at Fishermen's Terminal, and custom training with flexible scheduling onboard your vessel, or at your facility.

As a nonprofit organization, we've proudly trained over 56,000 mariners and continue leading maritime safety education in the Pacific Northwest and Alaska.
