About Us
The United The United Methodist City Society (UMCS) is the social service arm of the New York Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church. The City Society is a multi-service community-based organization that addresses the educational, recreational, social and spiritual needs of persons of all ages by providing a range of technical assistance services and financial supports that enable churches to respond effectively to individuals and families in their communities. Programs supported by the United Methodist City Society include after-school programs, Head Start programs, day care centers, food pantries, residential drug treatment centers, retreat facilities, senior centers and summer camp programs operated by over 100 Methodist churches in the five boroughs of New York City. The City Society also provides 43 units of affordable housing in upper Manhattan.
