About Us

The Indian Law Resource Center is a non-profit law and advocacy organization established and directed by American Indians. We provide legal assistance to Indian and Alaska Native nations working to protect their land, resources, human rights, environment and cultural integrity. Our principal goal is the preservation and security of Indian and other Native nations and tribes. We also help indigenous leaders and Indian communities to develop the capacity to advocate for and protect their own interests. The Center organized its programs of work around the indigenous concept that human welfare, human rights, environmental protection, culture preservation, and spiritual values are all a single concern, not separate objectives. Indian and other indigenous peoples seek the well-being of the entire natural world, of which they see their societies as very natural parts.
