About Us

Blue School offers a dynamically balanced education with equal emphasis on Academic Mastery, Creative Thinking and Self & Social Intelligence.

The promise of Blue School is to integrate, develop and share its unique approach to education with schools and educators from all settings. The school currently enrolls approximately 300 students ranging from early childhood (age 2) through grade 8.

Founded in 2006 by six artists and academics, including the three original members of Blue Man Group, Matt Goldman, Chris Wink, and Phil Stanton along with Renee Rolleri, Jen Wink Hays, and Jennifer Stanton. In September 2011, Blue School moved to its permanent home at 241 Water Street in Lower Manhattan. Gina Farrar, Head of School, leads a team of 65 full-time faculty members and 20 administrators. Leaders from the fields of education, psychology, design, and neuroscience such as Sam Chaltain, Larry Cohen, John Maeda, Steve Nelson, Sir Ken Robinson and Dr. Dan Siegel serve on Blue School’s Advisory Board and partner with the school to turn its vision into reality.
