THE NORTHERN NEW JERSEY COMMUNITY FOUNDATION
Mission
About Us
The Northern New Jersey Community Foundation (NNJCF) was founded in 1998 as the Englewood Community Foundation. The Foundation gradually expanded its geographical reach to the surrounding region and in 2011 was renamed the Northern New Jersey Community Foundation. The mission of this regional resource is to improve community life through its work in education, public health, the arts, the environment, civic engagement, and philanthropy. Central to its success is fostering collaboration among local governments, school districts, businesses, non-profits, and community groups.
NNJCF works with residents and partners across the Northern New Jersey region, including Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Morris, Passaic, Sussex, Union, and Warren Counties, to identify and addresses critical community issues. By promoting collaboration, the Foundation catalyzes the public’s creative power to think, design, and accomplish regional goals.
In 2014 NNJCF launched ArtsBergen, our Bergen County Arts Initiative, in response to expand the arts in the region and connect local artists to municipal placemaking and arts development. In 2019 we added the Environment and in 2020 are making climate action a major focus area, launching Climate Action Mobilization Program (CAMP). We believe that creating vital, resilient communities is best accomplished when residents work together to find solutions to common problems.
