Minnesota Connect Aphasia Now (MnCAN) was established as a non-profit 501(C)(3) organization in December 2013. In addition to providing conversation practice and strategies for people with aphasia, a major focus of the groups was to provide training of Speech Pathology graduate students in the Life Participation Approach to Aphasia (LPAA) and supported conversation strategies (SCA). We currently support over 102 persons with aphasia and their family members in 10 conversation groups, care partner support group an education and support program for people with Primary Progressive Aphasia.and other ancillary programs such as a Toastmasters Gavel Club and Drama Club for people with aphasia, a One to One Communication Partner program, an informal coffee club and a support group for Young People with Aphasia.
