NATIONAL HOME FUNERAL ALLIANCE

  • Mission

The National Home Funeral Alliance (NHFA) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to educating individuals, families, and communities about caring for their dead. We aim to empower people to reclaim the sacred tradition of home-based, family-directed after-death care, fostering a culture of compassion, dignity, and community involvement. The NHFA empowers families, communities, and professionals to care for their dead in personal, respectful, and meaningful ways. We support holistic, community-centered, and environmentally mindful approaches to death care.

    About Us

We envision a world where everyone has the knowledge, confidence, and support to care for their own dead in meaningful, culturally appropriate ways. By providing resources, education, and a supportive network, we strive to make home funerals a viable and accessible option for all.

By joining the National Home Funeral Alliance (NHFA) , you’re stepping into a supportive, values-driven community that is actively transforming how we talk about, prepare for, and experience death. As a volunteer, you’re not just giving your time-you’re contributing to a cultural shift that centers dignity, family agency, education, and accessibility in after-death care.

Volunteers are integral to our mission. You help us extend our reach, deepen our impact, and foster connection in communities across the country and beyond. Whether you’re supporting educational webinars, developing outreach materials, assisting with fundraising campaigns, or helping people navigate home funeral options, your presence matters.
