Bronx, NY

  • About Us

Founded in 2008, ELLIS is the first public high school ever that expressly serves 16-21 year-old recently arrived immigrants.

ELLIS strives to serve students academically as well as socio-emotionally as it prepares them for college and careers. Part of the Internationals Network for Public Schools (known for its success graduating English language learners as compared to NYC DOE averages), ELLIS academics are progressive - project and inquiry-based - and students present a portfolio at the end of each semester. All teachers are considered to be content AND language teachers, as all students are recently-arrived English Language Learners, and core classes fuse core content with language development.
