OPEN DOORS supports the creativity and leadership of people who have been harmed by gun violence and inspires action for safer, more just communities. Through storytelling, spoken word, hip-hop, and digital art OPEN DOORS members break down barriers around age, race, class and ability. This past year, OPEN DOORS members met with hundreds of youth living in high-crime neighborhoods, published the poetry anthology Wheeling & Healing, released the album OPEN DOORS Reality Poets Vol. 1, and co-wrote the play FADE, which premiered at the Main Street Theatre on Roosevelt Island. We are looking for a media-savvy instructor to help amplify our message of realness, resilience and healing.
