About Us

Earth Village Education is a nonprofit nature education organization based in northern Virginia. We conduct classes for adults, families, and school groups about a variety of topics related to nature connection, environmental stewardship, self-reliance, sustainability, and community development. Our home base is a 97-acre farm and nature preserve located just outside Marshall, Virginia (about 45 miles west of Washington, DC). Some of the specific topics we teach classes about are wild edible plants, permaculture gardening, bird language, blacksmithing, tree identification, wool felting, beekeeping, hide tanning, fire by friction, wilderness medicine, orienteering and navigation, and much more. Every year, hundreds of adults and children attend EVE classes at our Marshall campus or one of our partner schools, libraries, and festivals throughout northern Virginia. Our programs inspire environmental stewardship and help students connect to the natural world in new ways, learn valuable skills, and build relationships with other people who are passionate about conservation and self-reliance.
