About Us

The NGO Working Group on Food and Hunger at the United Nations is a collective effort of NGOs working together towards a better world by focusing on food and hunger issues. The Working Group, which was formed in 2008 in response to the global food price crisis, educates the broader public on critical global food security and hunger issues, organizes various advocacy events and closely cooperates with United Nations officials, member states delegations and other civil society organizations working on these issues. It has had a particular focus on the annual United Nations General Assembly resolutions on agriculture and food security in the Second Committee. The Working Group takes advantage of its presence in New York to monitor the work of the United Nations and to advocate with UN bodies and delegations on food security and hunger alleviation.
