WHO ARE WE
New Way Foundation is a not for profit organization providing free mentoring, tutoring, music and exercise programs for elementary, middle and high school youth in the Greater Charlotte area. New Way Foundation also offers two sport leagues Charlotte Black Knights Basketball and Charlotte Liberty Cheerleading both affiliated with AAU Sports Organization to all students in New Way Foundation programs and children in the community.
The goal of New Way Foundation is to foster an environment that creates a sense of hope and futuristic success, and this will happen by developing partnerships with local districts in the juvenile court system. Only through personal relationships can a sense of individual responsibility be re-established, this will give youth the commitment to follow through on path to adulthood with a sense of pride and accomplishment.
New Way Foundation is a program that is in direct response to the growing number of young people that are either falling through the cracks at school or are already entangled with the juvenile court system. The goal of this organization is to identify the youths who are having a turbulent transition to adulthood and offer positive support system to avoid the pitfalls that can derail their lives. The focus is slightly different at each level but the goal remains the same; empower the young person to make positive changes in his/her life.
- Intensive Tutoring Program: New Way Foundation’s Intensive Tutoring Program is an rigorous and positive program that will help develop and build the student’s mind and educate them on their current grade level and eventually have the student performing on the next grade level. All New Way Foundation tutors are required to attend Ortho Gilliam training sessions. This is to ensure and enforce the motto, “No Child Left Behind.” The tutors are able to assist all students including students with special needs. New Way Foundation tutors will also be accessible for services provided to Charlotte Mecklenburg School System for students that are suspended from their home school. Tutors will continue to educate the student to keep him/her from being behind when the student return to his/her home school. Curriculum will be provided through Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools to ensure that New Way Foundation tutors can continue to educate and tutor the students.
- Mentor Program - The goal of the program is to identify youth who are going to have a turbulent transition to adulthood and offer a positive support system that reverses their direction into a more optimistic light. The focus of each youth is slightly different at each level and allows for each child to find the perfect fit.
