    The (iwt) food work of chicago fights food poverty in chicago with an integrated approach and including food distribution direct services,education and nutrition education,financial empowerment and research,(iwt) food work thrives to asist adults and family's who are in crisis and people who are homeless in the state of illinois,the (iwt) food work was founded in 2009 with the goal to get large quanities of food to local organizations serving the poor throughout chicago.There are 3.3 million chicagoans who experience difficulty affording food,that's a astounding number and one that continues to increase as the donated food supply drops to an all-time low and food costs sky rocket,to address this issue,the (iwt) food work procure and distributes food to a network of approximately 1.000 food assistance programs city wide,in addition we provide food safety and capacity-building workships,manage school nutrition education programs,after school and emergency food programs,conduct a food stamp prescreening and outreach service,opearate a soup kitchen,food pantry,rehabilitation shelter and develop policy and conduct research to inform communitys and government efforts to end food poverty through out chicago.
