About Us

Innovation for Equity (IFE) is a powerful network founded in 2018 by a cross-disciplinary group of two dozen volunteer Black leaders from across the education ecosystem — including superintendents, higher education presidents, EdTech entrepreneurs, researchers, private investors, policymakers, and nonprofit leaders. IFE seeks to blend the moral vision of a civil rights organization with the innovation and urgency of Silicon Valley to improve life outcomes for Black learners from cradle to career. IFE’s approach is rooted in two main areas: supporting transformational leaders and scaling innovation. To change the paradigm where reforms impacting Black learners are too often designed without the input of Black education professionals, IFE aims to develop a deeper bench of Black leaders positioned to accelerate the path of Black learners through innovative practices and policies.
