The Ha Initiative - Another Quality HCAP Program

  • About Us

Since 1965, Honolulu Community Action Program, Inc. (HCAP) has helped Oahu residents achieve self-sufficiency and improve their social and economic conditions. HCAP offers a wide range of programs and services, including education, employment, housing, food and energy assistance, to improve the lives of over 17,000 people each year. HCAP is dedicated to its mission of "POI: Providing Opportunities and Inspiration to enable low-income individuals or families to achieve self-reliance."

The Ha Initiative is just one of the programs HCAP offers to the community. The program is a creative STEM after-school program. It supports working families by providing a high quality, free educational program for at-risk youth. HCAP launched the Ha Initiative to provide easy access to educational materials and experiences, a safe and healthy environment, caring and responsive staff, and low child-to-adult ratios. The Ha Initiative operates at 3 centers located in: Kalihi, Waianae, Waiahole, Waianae, and Aiea.
