  • Mission

    The Down Syndrome Parent Group of Western New York (DSPG) is a non-profit organization consisting of parents and families of children with Down syndrome. DSPG seeks to enhance the lives of people with Down syndrome and their families. DSPG also seeks to raise positive awareness about the unique gifts, talents, and abilities of people with Down syndrome. The organization's informational and social events provide a braod range of opportunities for families to support and encourage each other.

    About Us

    The organization was founded by parents in the late 1970's to give them an opportunity to learn from each other and increase the growth and potential of their children.

    Over the years the group has conducted many programs and activities that enrich the lives of their families and children with Down Syndrome:-"Wheels Around the Park" is a major event that brought together people with and without disabilities together to have fun and celebrate together. -Workshops for consumers and professionals on topics of interest to people with disabilities, particularly Down Syndrome.-Social activities that enable families and people with Down Syndrome to interact in a comfortable and warm environment including annual events around the holidays in October and December, a winter dance and summer picnic.-Education and support to parents of newborns with Down
