About Us

Ciclo Verde, Inc. is a nonprofit cross-country bicycle tour dedicated to supporting environmental causes.

The inaugural ride of the tour will take place in the summer of 2010, starting in San Francisco, California in early June and ending in Boston, Massachusetts in mid-August. Each of the 30 participants on the ride raises a minimum of $4000 for a trip total of $120,000, the majority of which will go to environmental organizations chosen by a panel of riders.

On the road, riders stay in churches, community centers, and YMCAs that agree to host and feed the group. Riders give presentations about the environmental work they support to hosts, and they also stop to volunteer on 5-10 local projects. Installing solar panels on houses, helping to clean up a river, and digging in a community food garden are just a few of the possible projects Ciclo Verde riders will be involved with, depending on the specific town in which they volunteer.

If you are interested in joining the trip as a rider or as one of the four leaders, please contact us at the email address below and fill out the application available on our website. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis; the earlier you apply, the more time you have to train and fundraise. You do NOT need to be a cyclist, but you must be committed to preparing for the trip.
