The mission of the YWCA is to empower women and girls and to eliminate racism.
Since 1906 the YWCA of Salt Lake City has strengthened the safety, health and well-being of local women and their families. Our enduring belief has been that better lives for women – all women – will lead to stronger families and communities. The YWCA is now Utah's oldest, largest, and most comprehensive provider of crisis shelter, housing, and supportive services for women and children who have experienced family violence. The YWCA addresses the problem of family violence at individual, family, and community levels through three broad strategies of prevention, intervention, and accountability – and we have developed many partnerships over the years that, increasingly, are implementing these basic strategies in a more coordinated and effective way.
