Her World Initiative

Her World Initiative strives to change the world for domestic violence survivors, focusing largely on the aftermath of domestic violence that many people do not think about including: mental health challenges, legal issues, employment problems, and lack of education. We are working to make the world a more navigable place for survivors through education, advocacy, and awareness. At present, we are developing a judicial training to provide to judges that preside over domestic violence cases; teaching them how to identify subtle signs of domestic violence and understand how to work with survivors who may be fearful and/or present poorly in court. We are also working on funding to provide legal representation to survivors who are at risk of losing custody of their children to a former abusive partner. Lastly, through awareness, we want to break down myths regarding domestic violence and expose to society how abusers utilize the family court as a vehicle to continue to maintain control over and abuse their victim.
