Real Democracy Today is a newly forming 501(c)4.
Our Mission:
REAL DEMOCRACY TODAY IS DEDICATED TO ENCOURAGING OUR GOVERNMENT TO:
- Recognize that the people elect their representatives: therefore elected officials are accountable to those who elected them, including those who didn't vote for them.
- Operate in a manner that instills trust and goodwill by not engaging in corrupt or illegal activities that put personal gain above the public good.
Real Democracy Today calls out public officials who do not adhere to these principles, encouraging citizens to take action, to demand a responsive government through direct contact with our representatives.
We hold that politicians have a responsibility not to cater to any particular constituency, but to try to find political solutions that incorporate the concerns of the larger electorate.
We will advocate for the strong enforcement of existing rules and mechanisms to hold elected officials accountable. Real Democracy Today will also apply pressure for the creation or implementation of more exacting ethical standards, to ensure the integrity of our government and its responsiveness to the people.
Real Democracy Today seeks to education those who visit our website about the issues on which we are working.
