Hickory Public Library Teen Tech Club Overview

This is an overview of the Teen Tech Club and details volunteer expectations. Accepted volunteers must review library policies and all volunteers are expected to be familiar with library policies prior to their first volunteer shift. These are given at the initial training session.

Purpose Of The Teen Tech Program Teen tech volunteers are valuable resources to both the library and community. They free library staff time for other service duties since they take some computer related workload off of Reference staff. The community appreciates their computer assistance.

Teen Tech provides library patrons with additional computer instruction resources to aid in learning computer usage and computer related tasks. Volunteers instruct patrons in basic computer usage, both hardware and software, and demonstrate basic Internet usage. Mainly basic Windows-related tasks, Word, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Web browser usage are demonstrated and taught. Techs also assist patrons with other computer tasks as needed.
