About Us

Canopy plants and cares for trees where people need them the most. We bring the life-giving benefits of trees to the schools, neighborhoods, and public spaces of the San Francisco Mid-Peninsula.

We envision a day when every resident of the San Francisco Mid-Peninsula can step outside and walk, play, and thrive under the shade of a healthy tree.

Canopy accomplishes its mission by:

·         Planting and caring for trees

·         Offering environmental education and stewardship programs that reach hundreds of K-12 students, including a Youth Staff employment program for low-income high school students

·         Providing education programs and resources that train and inform community members about tree selection, care and benefits

·         Advocating for the urban forest at the local, state and national level

Canopy's Healthy Trees, Healthy Kids! program is a multi-year initiative to plant 1,000 shade trees and fruit trees for kids. This program targets school campuses and nearby parks in Palo Alto, East Palo Alto, Menlo Park, Redwood City and Mountain View and engages children and volunteers in educational activities centered around planting and caring for hundreds of trees.
