About Us

The D.C. Chapter of the Sierra Club is the District's local chapter of the Sierra Club, the largest and oldest grassroots environmental group in the United States. The Sierra Club works nationally on three priority initiatives: Safe and Healthy Communities; America's Wild Legacy; and Smart Energy Solutions.

The D.C. Chapter works locally through volunteer involvement, empowering residents to create healthy, livable communities that we can proudly pass on to our children.

Our ongoing work focuses on a range of local issues, including restoring the health of the Anacostia River watershed; making D.C.'s air breathable; promoting public transit options; and helping government, businesses, and families reduce their waste and energy use.

We hope you will join with us to create a healthy, livable D.C.!
