About Us
The Swinney Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. It was started in 2019 by Dr. Sharmon Monagan to honor her late parents, Sherman and Beatrice Swinney. The vision is to build strong families and even stronger communities by helping single parent families. The United States has the highest rates of single parents in the world. One in four children will live some portion of their childhood in a single parent household. The Swinney Foundation provides scholarships, stipends, and community outreach programs to assist single parents, both mothers and fathers. Regardless of how someone became a single parent, The Swinney Foundation is here to help.
