About Us

Research Institute Without Walls (RIWW) brings LGBT mental health and human rights together. It facilitates international and collaborative research and training on LGBT mental health. RIWW’s community-based research brings together researchers, activists, attorneys, social workers, case workers, and clinicians who are interested in documenting the human rights, mental health needs, and resilience of LGBT persons around the world.

RIWW has two main areas of research and training: (1) the impact of human rights violations on LGBT mental health and HIV prevention; and (2) the mental health challenges and needs of LGBT asylum seekers and refugees.

Please contact us at to help the improve the lives of LGBT persons who are suffering from human rights violations and fleeing anti-gay persecution.

We are looking for marketing, branding, and copywriting volunteers to help us communicate the RIWW message effectively. You can be part of creating a voice for LGBT asylum seekers and refugees so we can assist in the process of rebuilding their mental health and lives.
