    INTRODUCTION

    Urban Refugee Community Development Organization is registered Community Based Organization and was initiated in July 18 2010 in Nairobi by a group of Somali Intellectual Refugees. This came after the founding father HE: Abdulrazak and an active 14 members of the Somali Refugee Community in Kenya have made an assessments towards the setting of a registered CBO, they have identified the needs that refugees to have their own organization with regard to the growing number of deteriorating refugee situations in the urban areas whom majority of them are Somali origins**The URCDO offers free services to urban refugees and supports refugee communities, particularly vulnerable, forgotten ones. minors of both girls and boys, and unaccopmpanied children, identifies descriminated refugees in the community such as lesbians and guys**

    MISSION STATEMENTS

    Urban Refugee Community Development Organization works to fill the critical needs of Urban Refugees affected by war and conflict.This commitment is expressed through targeting individuals, families, vulnerables and groups of refugees in the urban areas overlooked by existing aid programs. URCDO strives to alleviate human suffering, to protect life, health, raise awareness for these vulnerable refugees, and referals

    The URCDO depend on only member contribution because its the committments of the Executive Director and the staffs to contineu thier volunterily services to the urban refugees until otherwise in a position to be funded by DONORS, wel-wishers or organizations

    **OUR CORE OBJECTIVE**

    • To provide psychosocial, entrepreneurial and activation support, for Refugees living outside the designated refugee camps
    • To research and share information on country of origin, displacement, peace and security to inform decision makers on asylum or refugee matters through participation level, consultancy, and an advocacy
    • To strengthen/widen urban refugee assistance programs
    • Network with referral organizations to ensure that refugees are provided with critical assistances and be number one and reliable CBO in the field and engaging to any operational Partner
    • Identify for durable solutions for refugees and asylum seekers at extreme risks and refer to engaged agency
    • Advocate Urban Refugees; establish Community Based Supports, to respond trends or problems affecting them
    • Raise awareness on Refugee issues through participation level, information sharing on any issues that is affecting Refugees
    • Increase awareness and promote a consistent corporate image of the Urban Refugees, and their activities
    • Network with all organizations who offer access services to the Urban Refugee
    • Empower, Promote Urban Refugee Children to access the free primary education in Kenya
    • Create Job opportunities for the Professional Experienced Urban Refugees holding Degrees, Diploma or equivalent marks
    • Promote peace and Security in the host country
    • Participate Community Development meetings

    ABOUT THE URBAN PROGRAM

    The URCDO have community information and resource center which provides free services to the various refugee communities living in and around Nairobi area, such as Protection, Community Services, Health care, Legal Aid, and we also refer refugees after they present thier cases to which exactly office theier case can be assisted

    To address the Trends, impact and challenge gap faced by urban refugees in Nairobi, the URCDO started/opened an office as a information center in Embakasi Division at Komarock in 2010 to provide information to vulnerable refugee women, youth, children and men.

    Information increases understanding and decreases uncertainty, its our committment therefore to offer free services and information to promote freedom, Human dignity and self reliance
