Planning, Public Policy and Management (PPPM) at the University of Oregon is concerned with the ways governments, nonprofit organizations, and other institutions address public problems. We explore the environmental, economic, and social characteristics of communities and regions, and how government and nonprofit organizations can more effectively advance the public benefit agenda.
The PPPM curriculum emphasizes problem-oriented courses, field-based learning, and interdisciplinary study. Students actively assist communities and public organizations in their quest to improve economic, social, and environmental conditions.
PPPM is highly multidisciplinary, and faculty members are internationally recognized scholars. Moreover, many of the faculty are deeply involved in public issues across the Pacific Northwest and internationally. We combine rigorous and practical coursework with experiential learning requirements, enabling students to build their skills as public and nonprofit leaders.
