Columbia County Habitat for Humanity, Inc

About Us

Columbia County Habitat helps working families help themselves and become strong, stable and independent. By laying a foundation on which partner families can build their futures, Habitat and its ever-expanding network of families, volunteers and donors transform lives, one family, one home at a time.

Since its founding in 1993, Columbia County Habitat for Humanity has build 20 safe, affordable homes for working families in the county –– one each in Chatham and Copake, 3 in Valatie, and 13 in Hudson. Habitat serves as a builder and advocate, providing income-eligible families with low-interest mortgages. Volunteers build the houses alongside the prospective families, who must each contribute 300 hours of sweat equity to the construction of their homes, the down payment on their futures.
