Mentoring can help youth as they go through challenging life transitions, including dealing with stressful changes at home or transitioning to adulthood. Close, healthy, supportive relationships between mentors and mentees that last for a significant portion of time (i.e., more than one year) are central to success. Without this, mentoring programs run the risk of harming young people who are paired with mentors ill-equipped to meet the mentees' needs.
The Circle of SistAhood's vision stemmed from the lack of many unavailable resources for teen girl's mentorship. Mental health is increasing, and many teens are left in the dark on how to navigate through life. This program is designed to not only help teens overcome life stressors, but to help their families as well. Our Core values are inspired by our willingness to heal minds and restore souls with individuals, families, and the communities.
The Circle of SistAhood, launched in October 2022, has made a significant impact on over 100 teenage girls and their families across Ellis, Tarrant, and Dallas Counties. Through various group sessions, mental health counseling groups, speaking engagements, and community events, the program aims to foster holistic development for teen girls, their families, and the wider community. Our goal is to double the the access to teens and their families through mentorship and community work for the next service year.
