About Us

Explore Washington Park (EWP) was founded in 2013 as 501c3 non-profit that provides comprehensive transportation and customer service programs to Washington Park visitors. EWP is funded by Washington Park parking meter revenue through a long-term contract with Portland Parks & Recreation (PP&R). The goal of EWP’s efforts is to ensure the long-term educational and financial success of the Park and its venues; provide a world class experience to its visitors; and mitigate and minimize the impact of Park visitors on the adjacent neighborhoods. Our office is located in the World Forestry Center Discovery Museum, directly off TriMet’s MAX light rail lines. Washington Park is one of Portland, Oregon's oldest parks and is home to such attractions as Hoyt Arboretum, Portland Japanese Garden, World Forestry Center, Portland Children's Museum, Oregon Zoo and the International Rose Test Garden. In addition to the cultural institutions, the Park has the locally significant Holocaust Memorial and Vietnam Veterans of Oregon Memorial, as well as playgrounds, an archery field, tennis courts, a ball field, group picnic sites, over 15 miles of trails connected to Forest Park, and a TriMet light rail MAX station. Over 3.2 million visitors enjoying the Park each year, making it one of Oregon’s top tourist destinations.
