Relay for Life Almaden

About Us

Relay for Life is an amazing 24 hour event. Dedicated members of the community put together teams that keep a walker on the track at Leland High School for the entire 24 hours. Our mission is to celebrate, remember, and fight back. We celebrate cancer survivors with the very first lap: it's the survivor's lap. They represent hope. We remember during our luminaria ceremony where hundreds of luminaria bags are lit to honor those who have battled cancer- they encircle the track and illuminate our path as we walk throughout the night. We fight back against a disease that takes too much by raising awareness and funds for the American Cancer Society. The event pulls together all elements of the community: in our Survivor's Lap last year, the youngest walker was 2 while the oldest was 88. Cancer does not care who you are and neither do we. dWe come together for a common purpose: So that no one ever has to hear those 3 terrible words....you have cancer.
