About Us

Founded in 1993, The Northern California Children’s Therapy Center (CTC) is a nonprofit organization committed to a mission that no child should go through life with a disability that could be aided or prevented through early intervention. CTC provides multidisciplinary services including: physical therapy, speech therapy, occupational therapy, and Infant Development Program. CTC serves all children aged birth through 21 years, regardless of their ability to pay. CTC is also the proud home of Help Me Grow Yolo County. CTC is a 501c3 (TIN: 68-0309705) governed by a volunteer Board of Directors comprised of community member and parents.

CTC was founded by two therapists and 26 families who were all frustrated by the limited access to adequate therapy services due to the dismal insurance/funding support available for these services. The therapists and families realized that the traditional funding models available would not provide the intensive therapy that their children needed to learn to walk, talk, eat, learn, and care for themselves. So, they made a partnership. The therapists agreed to give the highest level of therapy to children, regardless of the limitations set forth by funding agencies. The parents agreed to donate time and help fundraise to fill the gap between available reimbursements (if any) for therapy and the actual cost of providing the service. This partnership enables children to develop to their maximum potential and has remained the heart of CTC. CTC still depends on community donations to carry out our goal of serving all children’s intensive needs, regardless of whether there is adequate reimbursement or the families’ ability to pay for therapy.

Currently, Children’s Therapy Center provides approximately 20,000 hours of service annually to approximately 550 children and their families…and this is on the rise. Since it’s inception, CTC has served thousands of children in our community with a wide variety of abilities. CTC specializes in working with children birth-five who are considered “high risk” for developmental delays, and children of all ages with established delays due to a variety of diagnosis.

Today, CTC’s 23 therapists serve children in the following counties: Yolo, Sacramento, Solano, Napa, Sutter, and Placer. 92% of the children that we serve are under-funded or un-funded for their essential therapy services. This is why fundraising, community support, sponsorships, and grants are so essential. CTC maintains tremendously low administrative overhead, so donated funds go directly to helping children in need. Volunteers help us stretch every dollar and are used in our daily operations. The children, who receive services with CTC, often think that the therapists are their friends and that CTC is just a wonderful playground full of playmates. This is our goal, to make learning fun while making life-changing impacts; because no child should go through life with a disability that could be aided or prevented through early intervention.
