About Us

The mission of the Literacy Council of Union County is to improve the quality of life for our community and expand individual potential by teaching adults to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.

We offer one-on-one tutoring, classes, and have a computer lab that is accessible during our business hours.

We NEED volunteers to operate. All of our tutors are volunteers. We have workshops quarterly to give the tutors skills and training that is helpful for them. We encourage questions and are available to help.

Our students are all adults. We teach ESL (English as a second language) and ABE (adult basic education).

We were founded over 20 years ago in Monroe. Please call today to see how you can help your community!
