HOURS OF WORK: Mondays- 3: 00 P.M.-6:00 P.M., Tuesdays- 3: 00 P.M.-6:00 P.M., Wednesdays- 3:00 P.M.-6:00., Thursdays- 3: 00 P.M.-6:00 P.M., P.M., Fridays- 3:00 P.M.-6:00 P.M. and as needed

 

TOTAL HOURS PER WEEK:     15-25 hours

 

HOURLY RATE:    $20.00- $35.00

 

ANTICIPATED START & END DATE:  09-11-17- 06-29-18

 

Program Scope:

Youth Leadership & Career Pathway (YLCP). YLCP is targeted to youth between the ages of 13-24. The model is career and post-education driven and consists of YLCP workshops geared toward meeting each participant’s social needs and developing their behavioral/life skills to prepare them for today’s employment market. YLCP workshops are supported with educational support and supportive services for students who need it based on their assessments to support their PATHWAY goals. YLCP will be tailored to students needs and will be based on youth development principles. Therefore, educational support and trauma-informed & support services are a key component of YLCP model in ensuring students success. Students in our YLCP are afforded tutoring, homework help, counseling, therapy & referrals to support their PATHWAY objectives & goals and will be able to participate in PATHWAYS geared to their career or post-education interests. 

 

Job Summary:

Under the direction of the program director and working collaboratively with other senior staff, we’re looking for a Teacher with experience in Common Core Standards and working with 8th thru 12th graders. The successful candidate will possess a keen understanding of the needs of high school students as well as an appreciation for their common struggles and issues with academics. We’re looking for a dedicated professional who wants to provide students with an exemplary, college-preparatory education and assist senior in facilitating weekly YLCP workshops

 

Job Description:

Management & Administration 

You will be expected to manage support staff & program operations; direct and facilitate student’s assessments;coordinate with school based staff; plan and implement and/or develop contextual learning curriculums related to student’s career pathways, maintain and collect attendance sheets on participants, register participants, ensure safety, create frequency distribution charts & evaluations of the program and students, navigate program data bases; and organize and coordinate events e.g. High- schools & collage tours etc.… 

 

Facilitation of Academic Support & Instructions and Student Engagement

You will be expected to develop a framework to help students succeed in school; you will be expected to assist students with H.W. as needed and supervise support staff to ensure completion of student’s homework as needed. In addition, based on student’s assessment/or report card, you are expected to provide students with remedial instructions to address each student academic need. You will be expected to provide contextualize learning to students in reading, writing & math related to student’s career pathway to ensure promotion to the next grade and academic enhancement in reading & writing and /or math grade averages and state & city tests.

Preferred Skills:

Master’s Degree in Education  

Current, valid state teaching certification required  

2+ years’ secondary teaching experience preferred  

Experience with and mastery of Common Core Standards  

Ability to build rapport with high school-age students  

Excellent communication and presentation skills  

Demonstrable record of helping students achieve high test scores 

 

 

Must be proficient in Excel, Power point and Word. 

 

QUALIFICATION & REQUIREMENTS: License and/or board certified Required and experience working with H.S students is a must

 

1Masters Degree from an accredited college, and one year of experience in coordinating workshops, administrating programs & supervising staff and conducting evaluations in an area related to the duties above and described on the curriculums, or

2. Baccalaureate Degree from an accredited college, and two years of experience in coordinating workshops, administrating programs & supervising staff and conducting evaluations in an area related to the duties above and described on the curriculums.
