Hunger Free America

About Us

Hunger Free America (HFA) and its affiliate Hunger Free NYC (HFNYC) are formerly the NYC Coalition Against Hunger (NYCCAH). HFA is a 501c3 nonprofit organization that represents New York City's more than 1,000 soup kitchens and food pantries - and the more than one million low-income New Yorkers forced to rely on those agencies to feed themselves and their families. Established in 1983, HFA fights to ensure that all low-income New Yorkers have enough to eat - as it develops innovative, long-term solutions to poverty aimed at helping hungry people move "beyond the soup kitchen" toward greater economic security.
