2366 Sixth Street, NW
The Howard University Science, Engineering, & Mathematics (HUSEM) Education Research Center is a multidisciplinary center in the College of Engineering, Architecture, and Computer Sciences and the College of Arts and Sciences. The goal of HUSEM research is to promote academic achievement and to increase the numbers of underrepresented minorities who receive baccalaureate and graduate degrees in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) disciplines. The research projects emanating from HUSEM have established a track record in the implementation of several initiatives that have contributed substantially to the understanding the factors that contribute the persistence, retention and achievement of minority stem students. HUSEM efforts improve the quality of undergraduate STEM education at Howard University and other minority serving institutions.
