We are a non-profit organization that has launched a major effort to place a world-class African American Cultural Centre in Grand Rapids, MI. The excitement and momentum keeps building within West Michigan for this unique, creative and innovative physical space to be added to landscape of wonderful cultural institutions that call Grand Rapids their home. We invite you to become part of this incredible journey and adventure.

NIA is a Swahili word meaning "purpose." One of the seven principles of Kwanzaa, NIA refers to the building and development of our community in order to restore our people to their traditional greatness.

So, too, is NIA Centre's purpose. It is a place where we celebrate family, community, and culture. A place where we revere and honor our past. A place where we gather to share, teach, and learn. And a place where we advocate for our future. And an inclusive gathering space created to inspire, build, transform and connect all people of all ages.
