  • About Us

St. Joseph the Worker is a non-profit employment resource agency whose mission is to assist the homeless and low-income of Phoenix secure and retain meaningful employment so that they can return to self-sufficiency. SJW is supported by thousands of local individuals, businesses and foundations-- no government money is used. We serve people in need, without regard to race, creed, or national origin. Most of our clients are eager to work, but have had difficulty securing and/or retaining employment. Some are new to the community, others have faced substance abuse, lay-offs, domestic violence, etc.—all have skills to offer. SJW offers those that can and want to work the things that are essential to securing employment: job development, resumes, interview readiness, job skills classes, bus tickets to interviews and job sites, telephone access and answering service, clothes, haircuts, tools, encouragement and much, much more.

We're recently begun our foray into outreach job development, and are pleased to introduce our Mobile Success Unit; an RV equipped with job searching capacities to meet people where they are and get them back to work as soon as possible. We also partner with several agencies around the Valley, such as Paz de Christo, Crossroads, and Stepping Stones, to provide their clients with vital job searching skills.
