The Stay in School Mentoring Project match es volunteers from the community across a broad spectrum of professions, with students that need guidance and support to help them be successful in school.

Mentors go to the school to meet with the students, during school, for one hour, at minimum twice per month. The emphasis is not on tutoring, but rather spending quality time talking, playing board games, learning crafts, reading together, etc. The focus is to develop a relationship, in route to enhancing the student’s self-esteem and confidence in his or her ability to be successful in school. This will encourage the student to remain through graduation and beyond.
