American Miklat Committee

Miklat provides temporary shelter, emotional and financial support, legal aid, job training, rehabilitation, and a variety of social services to women and children caught in the vise of domestic abuse in Israel. Three years ago, Miklat opened the Israel Center for Family Justice in response to the many calls received each day from women of all backgrounds and affiliations in need of legal advice and representation. The Center handles a variety of family law issues, primarily cases of divorce and separation, custody and child support, restraining orders and orders of protection, divorce papers and "shalom bayit" (“Peace in the Home”) agreements, and division of assets. Nearly all of the women who apply to the Israel Center for Family Justice are either in abusive marriages or believe themselves or their children to be in danger.
