About Us

WCM was started in the 1960's in response to the changing social and economic conditions occurring within the community. The community lay leaders and clergy recognized the need for a social response in the midst of serious unrest among the people within the community and in assisting them in dealing with those forces affecting their lives. Since 1968 Wilkinsburg Community Ministry has continued to grow and change in response to new and emerging needs within the community. We have congregations, judicatories, businesses and individuals that support the ministry, plus a vast number of volunteers and a dedicated staff of five full time and nineteen part time employees.

Our mission statement states we are to "Act as the cooperative body of the member congregations, as WCM develops, facilitates and delivers programs to meet the physical, social, economic and spiritual needs of Wilkinsburg families, individuals and member congregations".

Current programs offered by WCM are: Hunger Prevention and Assistance, Food Programs for chidren & Senior Social Services.
