Pitbulls Are Family, Inc.

  • Mission

Pit Bulls Are Family, Inc. is a community-centered nonprofit committed to protecting the lives and dignity of Pit Bulls and the families who love them throughout New York City. Our mission is to eliminate breed-based discrimination and shelter overpopulation by providing accessible veterinary care, adoption advocacy, public education, and community support. We connect underserved pet owners with affordable to free services including vaccinations, spaying/neutering, microchipping, and preventative care--ensuring that Pit Bulls and their guardians stay together, healthy, and safe. Through partnerships, outreach, and grassroots activism, we are transforming the way our city treats and values Pit Bulls--because they are not just pets, they are family.

    About Us

At Pitbulls Are Family, Inc., we believe that every pit bull deserves a loving, secure home - regardless of stigma, breed bans, or housing restrictions. Since 2021, we’ve been a voice for the voiceless, working to change hearts, open doors, and build safer communities for pit bulls and the families who love them. We know the challenges of adopting or owning a pit bull in today's world - from finding welcoming apartments to accessing affordable vet care. That’s why we’re here: to bridge the gap, connect you with trusted resources, and build a future where pit bulls are no longer feared, but embraced as family. This work isn’t easy - and we can’t do it alone. Your support fuels our mission. Whether you're adopting, donating, volunteering, or simply sharing our story, you are part of something bigger: a growing movement that sees the value in every wagging tail.
