Sierra has two main focuses. One, the founding principle, is to get people out into the environment so they will appreciate and want to preserve it. The other is to preserve the environment for people to enjoy.

Started in Claifornia by John Muir and friend in the 1800's, the organization today is international. It offers numerous outings and is promoting many ways to preserve our natural environmental.
