ABOUT US

CCG uses food to change lives and build healthy communities. Our experiential training and job placement program helps individuals with barriers to employment find and retain work within the food-service industry. We support refugees, individuals exiting domestic violence, individuals with past addictions or incarceration, and the chronically homeless. We aim to reduce unemployment and underemployment, increase job security, and foster a community of empowered, confident, self-sufficient individuals.

The CCG kitchen also provides much-needed access to healthy food options. We produce lunches for local schools, snacks for child-development locations, and food products for Treasure Valley businesses.

STORY OF INSPIRATION

A mother of three who was recently diagnosed with breast cancer, Jane* came to CCG in 2013 from the Women’s & Children’s Alliance. Her barriers to employment included lack of childcare, low self-esteem from an unhealthy domestic partnership, and limited English skills. During training, Jane* excelled in our foodservice program. At graduation, she said her favorite thing about CCG was “the safe feeling I had while I was there and the ability to start replacing bad memories with good ones.” Jane* now has a network of support and her children receive proper care while she is at work. Her confidence has grown as she developed a new skill set and Jane* is now employed in a commercial kitchen. (*name changed for anonymity)
